LAS VEGAS – Officials for the Salvation Army in Las Vegas say the charity's local headquarters was robbed of $13,400 sometime over the holiday weekend, and it looks like an inside job.
Spokesman Charlie Desiderio told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that the funds went missing Tuesday but there were no signs of forced entry. He says the thief likely had keys to the store and a filing cabinet.
The money is from donations collected by bell-ringers outside grocery stores and other spots throughout the city.
Desiderio says police visited the building Tuesday to interview workers and collect fingerprints.
The spokesman says the theft puts the charity behind where it needs to be going into slow donation months of January through April.
