NY police spokesman pleads not guilty to DWI

ALBANY, N.Y. – The longtime spokesman for the Albany, N.Y., Police Department has pleaded not guilty to a charge that he was driving drunk in an unmarked police car.

Detective James Miller entered the plea Monday at his arraignment.

The police department says their public information officer was pulled over Friday night for driving without headlights. They say Miller refused to submit to an alcohol test.

Miller says he regrets the negative publicity the arrest has brought to his family, the police department and Albany residents.

Albany police Chief Steven Krokoff says Miller has been suspended without pay.

Miller is a 19-year veteran who has been the department's public face in most news reports.
