BOSTON – An order of Roman Catholic nuns has withdrawn a lawsuit alleging the Boston Archdiocese didn't allow it to withdraw its portion of a church-run pension fund.
The two sides said in a statement Wednesday they'd reached a resolution and asked the state Supreme Judicial Court to dismiss the complaint by the Daughters of St. Paul.
The nuns alleged they had repeatedly tried to withdraw their money from the archdiocese's pension fund to set up a self-run plan.
Their suit was filed in December and charged that the fund's trustees failed to fully account for the order's portion of the fund. It estimated its share at $1.37 million. Trustees include Cardinal Sean O'Malley.
The statement says the settlement includes transfer of the money to a new plan the daughters will run.
