NORCROSS, Ga. – Authorities say someone stole a Georgia woman's car — with her grandmother's ashes inside — shortly after a memorial service for the deceased woman.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Ebony Simpson stopped in a crowded Kroger store in the Atlanta suburb of Norcross and briefly left her shopping cart unattended with her keys in it. At the register, the woman realized her keys were missing.
Authorities said when she went to the parking lot, her car was gone and so was the urn that contained her grandmother's ashes.
Simpson said she can replace the car, but can't replace her grandmother's ashes.
Police said no arrests have been made in the case in the days since the theft occurred April 23.
