ATLANTA – Four Brazilian women sued a Georgia man, claiming that they were the victims of sex trafficking aboard his fishing tour boat down the Amazon.
The lawsuit filed Tuesday in the Northern District Court of Georgia claims Richard Schair provided alcohol to the four plaintiffs and coerced them into sex acts with tourists. The four women were not named and said they were between 12 and 17 when the sex trafficking happened.
Schair is a Gainesville resident and says he is innocent. He operated the Wet-A-Line Tours in the Amazon until 2009.
He claims the complaint is part of a "quest by a competitor to ruin me."
The lawsuit was filed by attorneys from King & Spalding and was coordinated by Equality Now, a human rights group.
