2 Dead, 4 Wounded in Shooting Outside California Nightclub

Two people were killed and four others wounded after a man opened fire early Monday outside a California nightclub, KTVU.com reports.

The shooting reportedly happened after the suspect was denied access to Sweet Jimmie's nightclub in Oakland, Calif.

Officers responded to the scene at about 12:45 a.m., according to the station. Witnesses told police that the gunman was a passenger in a car that drove up to the nightclub. The suspect got out of his car and tried to get into the club but was denied entry, witnesses said. He then began shooting randomly before fleeing the scene, according to the station.

Two young men were pronounced dead at the scene and four others -- two men and two women -- were taken to a hospital, police told the station. Two of the victims are reportedly in critical condition.

The club, just four blocks away from police headquarters, had 12 to 15 patrons inside at the time of the shooting, according to the station.

Authorities are searching for the suspect.
